All About Me

Hey there!  My name is Gina and this is my Weight Watchers weight loss blog.  I’m 26 years old,  live in NJ with my amazing awesome boyfriend Anthony (who is also on WW with me), and write for a website. I LOVE music (mostly metal, industrial, hardcore, etc), make-up, photography, and having fun.

I also love food.  A lot lot lot.  And my love of food has brought me here.  Let’s take a look back at the beginning.

I’ve never ever EVER been skinny.  EVER.  Even when I was a little kid, I was always rounder than the others.  Not necessarily overweight, but definitely not a “normal sized” kid.  The older I got, the more aware of my weight I got.  Around the end of middle school or the beginning of high school, I made up my own diet to help me lose weight.  It consisted of a light breakfast and lunch with a healthy snack and a portion controlled dinner.  I lost weight slowly and maintained a good weight of 125-ish (not skinny, but average) throughout high school.  When I got to college, I maintained my weight because the food was awful on-campus so I barely ate.   I was also constantly on my feet thanks to school and work which helped keep me at around 125-135.  It wasn’t healthy at all, but it worked.

It wasn’t until I moved into my own place off campus that I started gaining weight.  I could eat what I wanted, whenever I wanted, and how ever much I wanted.  I cooked the things I loved and ate like it was going out of style.  I also partied hard, meaning lots of drunk nights that didn’t end until I had a greasy plate of food resting in my stomach.

After college, I began working in NYC.  Seeing all the beautiful NYC people made me more self-conscious and made me realize how much I truly gained (at this point, I was at 170-175 lbs).  I went on WW and lost 30 lbs in 3 months alone with the WW eTools.  I maintained my new 145 lb frame for about a year without the help of the program.  I ended up gaining it all back and then some when I started dating someone who was a terrible influence on my eating habits.  We’d eat poorly a few times a week and drink hard (like my old college days), but it never showed on him because he was very active.  It started to show on me in a few months but I paid it no mind as I was having fun and with someone who liked me regardless.

Then I lost my job.  About a month after that, the boyfriend I had that fed and liquored me up to a hefty 180lbs broke up with me.

A few months later, I started dating Anthony.  He was on WW when we started dating.  I got back on it to support him but quickly gave up when I wasn’t losing as quickly as I was before.  He got discouraged from plateauing and stopped soon after.  I didn’t care because I loved him for him and didn’t need him to lose for me (and vice versa).  Since we both share a love of food, we would indulge often for any sort of reason (“It’s Friday!” “We haven’t had pizza in awhile!” and “We don’t do this all the time!” were common excuses) without caring about the consequences because we had each other and were happy.

This is why we’re at our current weights.

Around the end of February 2010, Anthony and I decided that enough was enough with our fat asses and to really truly devote ourselves to living a healthier life though WW.  For those of you who don’t know me personally, here’s a recent photo (the “BEFORE” shot) of Anthony and I that was taken in February 2010:

So here I am now.  193 lbs (the heaviest I’ve EVER been) and absolutely positively ready to get back down to a healthy weight because I’m so sick and tired of living this way.

I decided to start this blog up to keep me motivated, focused, and organized.  The main header pic is of  Kaiju Big Battel character French Toast being wrestled to the ground because it’s the perfect illustration of what I’m going through;  wrestling the bad foods and winning for GOOD this time!  I also hope that my blog and stories inspire you to make a positive change in your life, too.  I know it sounds corny, but I truly do hope that my posts can motivate you in some way, shape, or form to do some good for yourself or someone else.
